Can Genital Herpes Spread to Same Toilet Usage? (healty)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Dr. Wresti Indriatmi SpKK (K), MEpid says genital herpes is an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus that affects the genital area. Herpes is said to be able to affect men and women.

So, can genital herpes or be transmitted through the use of the same toilet?

Wresti said the transmission of genital herpes can only occur through direct contact of the mucosa or mucous membranes of the lips or genitals. Genital herpes can also be transmitted through kissing, sexual intercourse, and oral sex.

"Genital herpes cannot be transmitted through the use of a the same sitting toilet, or through same underwear usage," she said recently in Jakarta.

Furthermore, Wresti explained that if there were more than one sexual partners, the risk of developing genital herpes would also increase. In addition, Dr. Wresti admitted that genital herpes is more prevalent among women than men, but not because women are not loyal to one partner. However, this needs further research.

"This disease cannot yet be cured. So once the herpes virus is in the body, it will stay for life," she said firmly.

Dr. Wresti said there are no drugs that can cure genital herpes, but you may be calm because this disease is not deadly.

Even if there is a drug, it is now used to slow down the recurrence and not to kill the genital herpes virus.

"There are no drugs that can kill the virus. Vaccines are being developed, but they can only be used for those who have not had genital herpes," she explained.
