JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – Women shoud not ignore incidents when they experience abnormal menstual cycle, such as menstruating twice in one month.
As reported by Boldsky, menstruating more than once in a single cycle can be a symptom of various health issues:
Change in Weight.
Weight loss or weight gain can lead to irregularities in the menstrual cycle. For some women, this can produce a much longer cycle, while for others, shorter menstrual cycles, even menstrual cycles once in two weeks.
Low thyroid function is also associated with vaginal bleeding between menstrual periods. The two main hormones that control our menstrual cycle are progesterone and estrogen. These hormones are produced by the thyroid gland, which is why thyroid problems are associated with irregular menstrual periods.
Changes in contraception can cause bleeding for up to two weeks after the last our period. Recent changes in contraceptive pills may cause this bleeding.
Uterine Fibroids or Cysts
Uterine fibroids can cause severe bleeding with blood clots between menstrual periods. This bleeding is often mistaken for menstrual periods, as it usually occurs during supposed menstrual cycle.
Higher stress levels are associated with irregularities in the menstrual cycle.
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
STIs such as chlamydia and gonorrhea can cause uterine inflammation. This can cause irregular menstruation cycle.
