BEIJING, NETRALNEWS.COM - China states that it is fully ready to defend its interests in a trade war with the United States (US). It is also hoped that the US can solve problems through dialogue and not with unilateral steps, said the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, Thursday (05/09/2019).

China's Commerce Ministry spokesman Gao Feng told reporters he had the determination and ability to defend his interests but hoped the two countries could find a middle ground.

The Chinese delegation will hold talks with a number of US partners in Washington from Thursday to Friday. The delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Liu He was aimed at saving a deal after US President Donald Trump threatened to raise tariffs on Chinese imported products on Friday.

Reaching an agreement requires efforts from both parties, Reuters reported. Gao added that Liu's visit showed his country's sincerity.

"China opposes tariffs that are unilaterally enforced by the US and there is no winner in the trade war," he stressed
