JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Tesla plans to develop an electric amphibious car that can travel underwater and on land.

As Car and Drive reported, Elon Musk had thought of a vehicle that some people thought was absurd and also impossible, but some industry executives from Tesla rejected that notion.

Tesla didn't just think of an electric amphibious vehicle, but Musk was having a hard time designing one model.

"I think the market for this will be small, but I am very enthusiastic about this vehicle," Musk said of the vehicle, as quoted from CarsCoops.

Elon Musk's interest in water vehicles is not new. Musk once bought the famous Lotus Esprit submarine from the James Bond film "The Spy Who Love Me" in 2013 at the price of 616,000 Euros (IDR 9.9 billion) at that time.

Musk claimed that he would change Tesla with an electric powertrain to really make it function but it still had to be seen if that would happen.

Tesla has many things now, namely the Model 3, Model S, and Model X cars, building large Gigafactory in China, producing batteries with improved quality, preparing to uncover all-electric pickup trucks, and preparing semi trucks.

Yes, amphibious cars will certainly be a nuisance for Tesla to focus on things that already exist, as reported by Antara.
