Jupiter Propels Space Rocks to Earth Like a Sniper

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - A leading physicist says that Planet Jupiter has apparently propelled space rocks to Earth like a sniper.

Most scientists believe that Jupiter, the largest planet in the Solar System, helps protect the planets closer to the sun, like Earth, and acts as a planetary shield. However, prominent physicist Dr. Kevin Grazier said the theory had been "laid to rest, and claimed that Jupiter also acted as a "sniper" in the sky.

His research claims the gas giant is more inclined to propel rocks at the Sun and rocky planets orbiting the sun, than pulling them in them or bend them.

Jupiter's shield theory claims a large planet, which has a mass more than 300 times larger than Earth, pulls in up asteroids or passing comets. But computer simulations conducted by Dr. Grazier revealed that it was wrong.

"I will not say that we are in danger, I will say that it has been ruled out. Our simulation shows that Jupiter will most likely send comets to Earth," said Dr. Grazier, as quoted by Daily Mail, on Monday (01/13/2020).

A series of papers, including the one titled 'Jupiter as a Sniper Instead of a Shield', brought it to its latest effort, which is to understand how Jupiter propels rocks at Earth.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the University of Southern Queensland provide evidence that Jupiter, in fact, is a shield and a sniper.
