HANOI, NETRALNEWS.COM - Vietnam's health ministry on Thursday (1/23/2020) reported that two Chinese citizens in Vietnam were confirmed positive of contracting corona virus.
The Southeast Asian nation has suspended flights to Wuhan, China, where the corona virus was first discovered.
The two Chinese citizens, a father and his son, were hospitalized on Wednesday (1/22/2020) after showing signs of fever. They were hospitalized at Cho Ray hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, the ministry said.
The father arrived in Vietnam recently from Wuhan, and traveled to the capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi, and the southern city of Nha Trang before being hospitalized.
On Thursday night (1/23/2020), the Vietnam Civil Aviation Authority (CAAV) said it had suspended all flights between Wuhan and Vietnam.
CAAV also ordered domestic airports to increase inspection steps to detect possible symptoms, such as fever, in passengers.
"The health ministry will continue to monitor suspected symptoms at the airports of Nha Trang and Danang, where many Chinese are arriving," deputy health minister Nguyen Truong Son said in a statement.
"All visitors from affected areas will be closely monitored and will have to undergo a health check."
