JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian Film Director Livi Zheng has reported three national media companies to the Indonesia Press Council (Dewan pers) for defaming the director through several published articles.
"In the articles, they wrote things that are inaccurate and want to kill my character. Therefore, I have reported [them] to the Press Council," Livi Zheng said when met at the Press Council Building in Jakarta on Monday.
The three national media are Geotimes.co.id, Tirto.id, and Asumsi.co. Livi came to the Press Council Building accompanied by her attorney Hulman Jufri Oktario Simatupang.
The director of the film "Bali: Beats of Paradise" also objected to the articles written by the three media companies, as the companies did not confirm directly to her about the articles.
However, Livi was reluctant to mention when asked which points were the most crucial regarding the articles from the three national media.
"Lots of it, we'll just wait for the results from the Press Council," she said.
Livi said she highly respects press freedom. For this reason, she first reported the three media companies to the Press Council.
"What they wrote were not innacurate, and they did not confirm directly with me concerning the articles. I really respect freedom of the press. That is why I reported the three media companies to the Press Council before I report it to other institutions," Livi said, as quoted by Antara.
