TANGERANG, NETRALNEWS.COM - Sinar Mas Land, the developer of BSD City, is committed not just develop a leading city, but develop leading human capitals as well.
The desire to build a leading community is pursued through various programs, in line with the comprehensive facilities available in BSD City and surrounding areas.
This year, Sinar Mas Land has cooperated with senior badminton athlete Candra Wijaya, gold medal winner for men's double at the 2000 Olympics, as well as the 1997 World Champion, and a community of journalists members of the Journalists for Sports (JUSRAGA). The cooperation is conducted to hold the "Sinar Mas Land (SML) Looking for 2019 Champions" badminton talent search for elementary school children aged 8-11 years.
This badminton talent search event takes place from October 16, 2019 to November 16, 2019. The talent scout team from Sinar Mas Land will visit several elementary schools in four BSD City areas, namely Cisauk, Pagedangan, Serpong and North Serpong to conduct the badminton talent search roadshow on October 16 - 31, 2019.
The launching of the SML Search for Champion program took place on October 16, 2019 and was held at Setu Elementary School, South Tangerang, Banten.
Candra Wijaya also attended the event to conduct a direct selection of 250 students. SML Looking for Champion targets to attract 1,200 children aged 8-11 years or grades 3-5 elementary school.
Participants who qualify for the preliminary stage will be assessed by the CWIBC talent scout team with assessment criteria covering physical abilities, understanding, and basic technical skills in playing badminton.
A prize of IDR163,000,000 is provided for 10 winners who will be put into intensive badminton training and coaching for one year mentorship by Candra Wijaya. In addition, ten scholarship recipients will also receive allowance during the training process.
Candra Wijaya said Indonesia is rich in natural resources as well as human resources. The achievements of young Indonesians, especially in badminton, also deserve to be recognized.
"This motivates me to give birth to new young athletes through the badminton training program that I founded at Candra Wijaya International Badminton Center (CWIBC)," he said.
On the occasion, he also expressed appreciation to Sinar Mas Land for the company's efforts through a program to create badminton world champions who specifically come from the BSD City and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, Dhony Rahajoe, Managing Director of President Office at Sinar Mas Land, said "Sinar Mas Land Looking for 2019 Champion is one of the agendas of the SATU BSD (Interfaith, Healthy and Peaceful Gathering) program.
If this activity gets positive response from the BSD City community, Sinar Mas Land is considering implementing similar activities in other Sinar Mas Land townships such as in Cibubur, Bekasi and Karawang.
"We open this competition for elementary students from public and private schools. We, together with the Candra Wijaya team, will go straight to selecting children who can and want to take part in a badminton scholarship program and explore the hidden achievements of children who live around BSD City, "he explained.
