Rumbi Simanjuntak, Head of Product Marketing for Home Appliances at PT LG Electronics Indonesia, said that LG has officially introduced the LG ThinQ series, the latest line of electronic products from LG equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company has now stated its readiness to launch a smart washing machine to Indonesia at the end of this year.
In the form of front loading washing machine that is equipped with AI, the latest washing machine is able to recognize the weight and characteristics of clothing material that is inserted into the washing tube.
This AI technology, combined with the LG Direct Drive inverter motor technology, enables LG smart washing machine to perform optimal washing with more diverse washing motions.
"The collaboration of artificial intelligence technology of LG ThinQ AI and LG energy-saving motor technology in providing a variety of washing motions for these clothes provides new comfort for better care solutions for consumers," Rumbi said on Tuesday (10/29/2019).
He added that the LG ThinQ series is present as evidence of the company's serious efforts in product development with the support of IoT and AI. The series is born from the thought of "Think of You," which implies the spirit that underlies the company in customer-focused development. The LG ThinQ series is available in various categories of LG electronic products.
LG has also announced the readiness to present a washing machine with AI support that will strengthen the existence of the LG ThinQ series in Indonesia. Previously, the company has introduced TV sets, refrigerators, microwaves and air conditioners in Indonesia.
Further related to the AI washing machine's new technology, Rumbi said the latest washing machine is closely related to the support of the use of big data in it. A total of 20,000 combinations of information related to the use of washing machines and their settings become the database for this latest washing machine series. Therefore, the washing machine can recognize the unique micro-motion of the washing tube for each type of clothing material that is different from soft, coarse, as well as heavy.
Rumbi Simanjuntak said that when a user puts clothes in the washing machine, the washing machine will first recognize the weight of the laundry. When choosing the AI function, the AI will make the tube move around for a while. The movement of the tube with the clothes inside then produces a unique micro-motion which is then recognized as a command to determine the optimal washing mode.
This washing mode is a combination of several washing movements that result from the application of the LG Direct Drive inverter motor. There are six combinations of washing movements ranging from gentle shake to twist and squeeze, as well as handling stiffer clothing material, inspired by hand washing.
