JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian actor Arifin Putra says he likes to do gardening to fill his spare time while isolating himself at home, following the government's calls on physical distancing and work from home to curb the spreading of coronavirus.
"There are many things that we can do at home, such as 'living green at home'," Arifin said.
"The simplest thing is when there is a lot of free time at home is planting. I live in an apartment, and there is a small compost with organic waste there. I also have a hydroponic garden," he continued.
Arifin revealed that he had been active in hydroponic gardening by planting cherry tomato plants, which he had done twice at his residence.
"I planted cherry tomatoes for the second time. It tastes good, just not as sweet as the tomatoes that we usually buy at the supermarket," said Arifin, who played in "Foxtrot Six" (2019).
Although the taste is not too sweet, Arifin said that there was a satisfaction that the cherry tomatoes he planted were harvested and enjoyed with his family and relatives.
In addition to gardening, the 32-year-old actor also said that cooking can be a fun new hobby to learn.
"We can also learn to cook more at home, especially dishes that are plant-based, because it can help [reduce] our carbon footprint," he said.
Not only that, Arifin who is also active in nature and Earth preservation activities, said people who live at home with family can help save energy in simple ways.
"What we can do also with our family is that we can become 'police' at home to check and turn off electronic devices at home that do not need to be used. There are many things we can make productive at home," he said.
