BEIJING, NETRALNEWS.COMChina has officially bid for the AFC 2023 Asian Cup after making various preparations. According to sources in the Chinese Football Association (CFA) quoted by local official media, the development factor of soccer was the main reason why they were so eager to host.

They want to repeat the achievement of qualifying for the final round when they hosted it in 2004.

The AFC Asian Cup is the largest four-year soccer tournament in the Asian region. Finally, the championship was held in the United Arab Emirates and the steps of the Chinese national team were stopped in the quarter-finals.

China's highest achievement in this Asian championship was to be runner-up when they hosted it in 2004. They failed to win after being defeated by Japan with a score of 1-3.

As the second largest economy in the world, China has set ambitious reforms in the field of football in 2015. One of the ambitions will be achieved by hosting the AFC 2023 Asian Cup.

To hold the spectacular championship, the Chinese government prepared a magnificent and large-capacity stadiums in Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing (Jiangsu Province), Xi'an (Shaanxi Province), Chengdu (Shandong Province), Shenyang (Liaoning Province) , Changsha (Hunan Province), Ningbo (Zhejiang Province), and Luoyang (Henan Province).

Compared to other sports, the achievements of Chinese football are still lagging behind other Asian countries, notably Japan and South Korea.
