JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS - Mission Winnow Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso made a surprise when he came out as the fastest in the free practice session (free practice) FP2 GP Argentina on Friday (03/29/2019) local time.

The official Moto GP page on Saturday (03/30/2019) morning reported, the Italian driver improved his timeline from 16th place to the top of the training session at the end of the FP2 session to surpass Pramac Racing's Jack Miller who was ranked second with a very thin difference 0.009 seconds.

Miller, who fell on corner 13, struggled to reach the second fastest time at the end of FP2.

"The motor works better than last year, this is what we need and I am very happy about it," Dovi said.

"Not that it's enough to fight for the podium but it's basically very good. I'm very relaxed today and this always helps the work we have to do when practicing."

The opening series rider in Qatar revealed that the difference felt from this year's Ducati motorbike was in heavy distribution.

"We didn't use a winglet so it felt very different from last year and basically it was better than what was found at the start of last season," Dovi said.

Meanwhile, Miller said he was satisfied with the timetable even though he was down with used tires he used in FP1.

"Positive results throughout the day. We were the second fastest this morning using used tires. We used soft tires at the end and I felt very well suited to that," Miller said.

Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) recorded the third best time even though they had complained about the grip of the rear of the bike in the opening session.

The Spaniard was 0.164 seconds behind Dovi. Fourth place was occupied by Cal Crutchlow, the 2018 Argentine GP champion, followed by rookie Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) who again won a positive result in fifth place with a difference of 0.176 seconds from P1.

The Frenchman outperformed Valentino Rossi (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) which was on P6. The rider nicknamed The Doctor was repairing his time record to get a temporary place for qualifying Q2.

Alex Rins (Suzuki Ecstar) was behind Rossi with a difference of 0.010 seconds for the P7, followed by Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda) who slipped to P8.

Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha SRT) and Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) completed FP2 at P9 and P10 while in a safe position for Q2.

The day's free practice session was tight considering that as many as 21 riders had a difference of no more than one second.

FP3 and FP4 free training sessions, will be held on Saturday, followed by a qualifying session to determine the position of the race start.
