MANCHESTER, NETRALNEWS.COM - English Premier League giant Manchester United is reportedly opening a vacancy for a technical director. This is a new position for the Red Devils, as they never had a technical director before.

CEO Ed Woodward hopes the technical director can help and support the tasks Solskjaer has been given as MU's permanent manager last week, as reported by BBC and Sky Sports.

The main task of a technical director later is to strengthen the options for the first team squad. In addition, he must also plan for long-term recruitment. Not only that, other duties of technical directors outside the transfer business are also numerous, such as handling academies, infrastructure, arranging programs and rules regarding fitness and player attitudes.

Although not yet announced who the person is, but the BBC reported that MU had monitored one of the candidates, namely the former Head of Recruitment for Tottenham and Southampton, Paul Mitchell.

Mitchell as is known is the figure behind the success of Tottenham through the top four competition in the last few seasons. Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochetino is spoiled with a supply of quality young players from Mitchell who make their strength now highly respected in both the UK and Europe.

Solskjaer has stated that he is ready to accept new people to help with his tasks. The 46-year-old manager has so far discussed with CEO Ed Woodward and club owners the scale of the technical director's duties.

"I think, the current era of football does require that you have to share tasks with others," Solskjaer said.
