MADRID, NETRALNEWS.COM - Real Madrid manager Zinedine ZIdane says on Tuesday that the team will have a first-choice goalkeeper next season, and will no longer rotate frequently between Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas.

Real Madrid signed Courtois from Chelsea in August, although Navas won UEFA's best goalkeeper award after helping Real win the Champions League in 2018.

Meanwhile, Zidane's son Luca played as goalkeeper when Real won 3-2 over Huesca on Monday.

"Next season there will be no debate about who deserves to be the first choice goalkeeper," the French coach was quoted as saying by BBC Sports.

"Right now, there are three good goalkeepers and we will finish the season with them."

As reported by Antara, Real have played 29 La Liga matches so far in the 2018-19 season and Courtois has played 24 of them.

In addition, Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas (32) has only been deployed four times since the start of the match and a league appearance for 20-year-old goalkeeper Luca Zidane, who joined the Madrid academy at the age of six when his father was still playing for the club.

Navas has helped Real Madrid win the Champions League three times in a row and played in the first three Group G matches this year, although Courtois appeared in three group finals and two in the last 16 against Ajax, who lost 5-3 on aggregate.

Zidane coached Real Madrid from 2016 to 2018 and again took over as coach last month after Santiago Solari was sacked because the capital club were eliminated from the Champions League and Copa del Rey and far behind in the race for La Liga champions Barcelona.
