Atletico Madrid Extends Jan Oblak's Contract to 2023 (prokeepers)

MADRID, NETRALNEWS.COM - Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has been rewarded for his fine performance for the club. Oblak has just received a four-year contract extension until 2023.

This contract also ended speculation about the future of Oblak, which was rumored to be leaving because there was no extension of the contract which had expired 2020. Both parties were involved in lengthy negotiations so many media suspected that Oblak would be released this summer.

In the old contract, Oblak has a sales clause of 100 million euros. Even though it is expensive, in fact Paris St-Germain continues to tease it. Not wanting to lose the Slovenian goalkeeper, the management worked hard to persuade him to extend the contract.

After five months of negotiations, Oblak finally agreed to sign a new four-year contract or until 2023.

Atletico reportedly offered a salary of more than 100 thousand euros per week for Oblak. In addition, the value of the release clause in the contract was increased to 120 million euros.

"I am very happy to extend my contract and stay here. I want to continue to defend this club with my best ability and continue working hard," Oblak said on the club's official website.

Signed from Benfica in 2014, Oblak has performed 203 times in all competitions and made 115 clean sheets. He also presented one Europa League trophy and one European Super Cup.
