Karolina Pliskova Rises to WTA Number Two after Italia Open WIn

LONDON, NETRALNEWS.COM - Karolina Pliskova has just won the title at the 2019 Italian Open tournament last weekend. The trophy boosted her world rankings which are now up five levels in the WTA ranking which was announced on Monday (05/20/2019), Pliskova is now only below world number one Naomi Osaka.

The 27-year-old defeated Briton Johanna Konta to claim his 13th WTA title in Rome.

He will become the second seed at the French Open which will begin Sunday this week. He is ambitious about riding achievements at Roland Garros which in 2017 can only reach the semifinals.

Tahta Osaka ranked number one in danger of being undermined even though defending champion France Open Simona Halep dropped to third.

Pliskova's shot made three-time Grand Slam champions Angelique Kerber and Petra Kvitova go down two and one level.

Serena Williams returned to the top 10 after playing her first match since March in Italy despite having to withdraw from the field before meeting her brother Venus in the second round.
