Dovizioso Still Confident Despite Trailing 37 Points Behind Marquez (special)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM -- Mission Winnow Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso believes the race for the MotoGP title is still open because this year's race calendar is still long.

Arriving in the eighth series which will be held at the Assen Circuit, the Netherlands, this weekend, Dovi departs with a margin of 37 points from table leader Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda).

The Italian rider failed to score points in the previous series in Barcelona after being involved in a successive collision incident with Jorge Lorenzo and Maverick Viñales when the race had only run 2 rounds.

"There is no time to drag on thinking about the missing points at Barcelona, we have to overcome each race by working as hard as possible as we have done now," said Dovi, as quoted by the official MotoGP page on Thursday (06/27/2019).

"I believe we show high competitiveness and even though there are still areas that need to be improved, we have increased our speed."

Ducati will be tested at the Assen Circuit which is seen as not suitable with the manufacturer's motorbike from Bologna, Italy.

But both of their riders, Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci have shown strong performances throughout the season.

However, Dovi's record lacks shine in the Dutch GP. With the Desmosedici, Dovi was only once on the podium with a runner-up finish at Assen in 2014.

But the other podium at Assen was won by rider number 04 with three different manufacturers, namely Honda (2011), Yamaha (2012) and Ducati (2014).

"Assen is not the most suitable track for our motorbike and the weather conditions always play an important role there, but in every race, we have shown that we can progressively increase during the race on weekends even on difficult circuits."

"We must remain calm and focused, conquering one by one race. This championship is still a long one," Dovi said, as reported by Antara.
