HOUSTON, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Houston Rockets have reportedly recruited free agents Tyson Chandler and Anthony Bennett. Previously, the Rockets had already brought in a marque player Russell Westbrook, who was brought in from the Oklahoma City Thunder through player exchange system.

Bennett, the first NBA Draft 2013 recruiter basketball player selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers, agreed on a one-year unsecured contract in the Rockets, reported The Athletics Shams Charania columnist on Saturday (07/13/2019).

Bennett had disappeared from the NBA scene after being considered a failed player and has since traveled more to NBA G-League teams or to Europe.

Last season, Bennett played for the Agua Caliente Clippers, in the NBA G-League and appeared in 25 matches with an average of 12.2 points and 4.6 rebounds and 53.7 percent accuracy of open shots.

While Chandler, ESPN columnist Adrian Wojnarowski reported, has agreed on a one-year contract at the Rockets.

The Rockets are said to have tried to approach Chandler over the past few weeks, but Westbrook's arrival contributed to Chandler's decision to join.

The last four seasons Chandler defended the Phoenix Suns, but in early November 2018 he redeemed his own contract to be able to move to the Los Angeles Lakers in the rest of the season.

Since becoming the second NBA Draft recruit in 2001, Chandler has spent 18 seasons in the NBA with an average of 8.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

The Rockets have just gotten Westbrook from the Thunder through an exchange scheme by sending Chris Paul and two voting rights to the first round of the NBA Draft next season accompanied by two guaranteed exchange picks.

The arrival of Westbrook gave him the opportunity to reunite with James Harden who during 2009-2012 played for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
