NAPLES, NETRALNEWS.COM - Napoli legendary forward Antonio Careca has praised and rated Inter Milan's new striker Romelu Lukaku as a better striker than Mauro Icardi.
"The Argentine (Icardi) did not make a diffeence," Antonio Careca said to newspaper Il Giorno on Monday (9/9/2019).
Lukaku was signed from Manchester United (MU) for 65 million euros plus bonuses, which is a record for the club.
Meanwhile, Icardi is signed by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) on a loan with an option of 75 million euros to buy.
"Icardi is able to play for Napoli. He seemed unable to be stopped. "It's very alarming," Careca said.
"The Argentine appeared as a capable striker, but not a phenomenal figure. I believe Lukaku as a higher quality player. I would argue that Icardi doesn't make a difference. "
Careca, who has a Brazilian passport, also spoke about Juventus' domination for eight years in the Italian League.
"They say the Premier League is the best league right now, but I don't believe it. There are many foreign players in Italy, but the level remains high. What the Italian League needs is to increase the number of coaches who are able to recognize and increase the players' potential."
He also suggested that Napoli continue to improve the quality of performance by developing more offensive tactics.
"Ottavio Bianchi instilled discipline in us and the fans. The team has one goal, which was speed. "We were taught that the second ball must reach Diego Maradona," he said.
