JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Free Fire Master League (FFML) season 1, the largest esports league tournament in Indonesia, has officially begun. The tournamet takes place in Jakarta from January 14 to February 14.
Christian Wihananto, the organizer and producer of Garena Free Fire Indonesia, said the implementation of FFML aims to build the esports ecosystem, and is expected to be a medium for young people to develop their abilities so that they can become world champions.
"We hope this will become a consistent structure for the birth of competitive Indonesian athletes that can compete in the international arena," Christian said during a press conference in Jakarta, on Tuesday (01/14/2020).
Season 1 FFML tournament will see 24 Indonesian professional esports teams compete for a total prize of IDR1.2 billion.
In season 1, FFML tournament will use a league system, divided into six pots, and each pot consists of four teams.
Six of the 24 teams with the highest points will automatically get tickets to qualify for the Free Fire Indonesia Masters 2020 Grand Final.
The tournament will take place offline at the Garena Indonesia Office in Jakarta, and 24 teams will gather and compete together in one place.
The match will be held Monday through Friday at 19.00 - 20.00 Indonesian Western Time, and can be watched via live streaming on the official YouTube account of Garena Free Fire Indonesia.
