TURIN, NETRALNEWS.COM - Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has been tested positive for coronavirus or Covid-19. Matuidi's teammate Daniele Rugani had earlier been also tested positive for the coronavirus.
Just like Rugani, the Frenchman was tested positive for coronavirus even though he did not show any symptoms. Matuidi is now undergoing isolation or self-quarantine after Rugani has tested positive for Corona since last week.
Juventus, through their official website, also announced the news on Matuidi testing positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday local time(3/18/2020).
"Blaise Matuidi has undergone a series of medical tests, and the results show he is positively infected by the coronavirus," the Juventus statement said.
"The player has been undergoing self-isolation at home since Wednesday, March 11. His condition will continue to be monitored, and he will follow the rules that have been set. He is in good condition and shows no symptoms whatsoever."
Thus, 13 Serie A players have contracted the coronavirus. Sampdoria became the team with the most cases because there were seven players who were positive for the coronavirus.
In Italy alone there were 27,980 cases related to coronavirus, referring to data from the World Health Organization (WHO). Of this number, 2,158 people have died.
