JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - North Sulawesi Province has been named as the Rising Star of the Indonesian tourism sector. The province has been able to drive the growth of its tourism performance to 600 percent in the past four years.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said tourism in North Sulawesi, especially the city of Manado, had the highest growth in the last four years, which grew by six times or 600 percent. Therefore, it deserves an award as 'The Rising Star'.

"This award as The Rising Star will be given at the Jakarta Marketing Week event on April 25 2019," said Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya after launching the 2019 North Sulawesi Calender of Event at the Hall of Soesilo Soedarman, Sapta Pesona Building, in Jakarta.

"In four years, foreign tourists visit to North Sulawesi has increased by six-fold. Likewise, the movement of domestic tourists are around two million to four million, or growing 200 percent, even though in other regions only around 5 to 10 percent, "said Arief Yahya.

Arief Yahya said that the CEO Commitment from regional leaders (governors, regents and mayors) was one of the keys to North Sulawesi's success in developing the tourism sector. "North Sulawesi this year has three featured events in the 100 Wonderful Event 2019," he added.
