JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM – It is common knowledge in the traveling world that the passport would be the most important document that travelers must have,  especially for those who travel overseas often.

Nevertheless, there are still many who do not know that there are four different passport cover colors.The four colors have different meanings for each passport-issuing country. Here are the four passport cover colors, as quoted from Mirror.

Red passport cover 

Red passport is used as a "branding exercise" of Britain and almost all members of the European Union. This color is also used by several Andean Community countries such as Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. Meanwhile, Switzerland uses this color to match the color of its flag.

Blue passport cover

This passport cover color is mostly used by new world, including the United States, 15 countries in the Caribbean, as well as countries in South America such as Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.

Green passport cover

This color is mainly used by Muslim-majority countries such as Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), including Nigeria and the Republic of Senegal. The Republic of Indonesia also uses this color on its passport.

Black passport cover

Countries using this color on their passport cover want their passports to look official and not easily get dirty. Black passport covers are used by the Republic of Botswana, Zambia, as well as New Zealand. (*)
