BOGOTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Defense Ministry of Colombia says police have seized seven tons of cocaine at a banana plantation in the province of Antioquia.

The contraband belonged to the Golfo Clan crime group. The seized cocaine is estimated to be worth to USD200 million. In addition, police also arrested five people.

"The shipment was planned for Central America, with the United States as the final destination. The narcotics were camouflaged in legal shipments of bananas and fruits," the defense ministry said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Golfo Clan said they were willing to surrender to the government. The group, also known as the Usuga Clan, is accused of managing a profitable route of drug trafficking in partnership with Mexican cartels. They are also accused of taking part in illegal gold mining.
