BLITAR, NETRALNEWS.COM - The current condition of the President Soekarno Cemetery Complex has disturbed Indonesian MInister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini's heart. Since it was first inaugurated in 1979, the tomb complex in the middle of Blitar City had never been thoroughly maintained.
This condition has moved the Minister of Social Affairs to make a pilgrimage and at the same time initiate the maintenance of the tomb complex of the Proclaimer.
"Since it was inaugurated in 1979, Bung Karno's grave has never received care and maintenance. Therefore, we at the Ministry of Social Affairs, which is also associated with heroism, have taken care of it with the local government," said Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma, at Bung Karno's grave complex in Bendogerit Village, Sananwetan District, Blitar City, East Java (23/10).
After making a pilgrimage to the grave complex of Indonesia's first President, Social Affairs Minister Risma, went around the tomb complex researching every inch of the building to determine what needed to be repaired at Bung Karno's tomb facilities. At some point, the Minister of Social Affairs instructed the cemetery manager to make improvements.

"Sir, there needs to be a lamp to make it brighter, then the floor also needs to be scrubbed to make it shiny. There are also lights on the trees at several points," said the Minister of Social Affairs said to the cemetery manager.
To the media, the Minister of Social Affairs also said that in the future, the central government, in this case the Ministry of Social Affairs, will assist the regions in maintaining the hero's grave garden. If the task of maintaining the tomb is only carried out by the local government, it will feel difficult.
Thus, the policy of conducting maintenance at the tombs of heroes is not only focused on the Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery. However, the Ministry of Social Affairs also provides attention and assistance to the regions in maintaining the graves of heroes in the regions.
"We will assist the region in maintaining and structuring the graves of the heroes, so as not to burden the local government too much, so that in the future, the graves for the heroes are expected to be better and well-maintained," said the former Surabaya mayor.
Minister of Social Affairs Risma also said that apart from visiting Soekarno's grave, she also visited the grave of national hero Tjut Nyak Dhien in Sumedang, West Java, and the National Hero Bung Hatta Cemetery in Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery, Jakarta.
According to the Minister of Social Affairs, the existence of the graves of the heroes far from their place of origin is a priority for maintenance. “Before coming here I also visited the grave of the national hero Tjut Nya Dien in Sumedang. Thank God, it's clean and well-maintained because the Sumedang local government is very considerate," said Risma.
Meanwhile, H. Santoso, Mayor of Blitar, greatly appreciated the presence of Social Affairs Minister Risma to the Bung Karno Tomb Complex. This indicates the great spirit of the Minister of Social Affairs who really appreciates Soekarno's services as a National Hero.
"I am proud, salute to Mrs. Social Affairs Minister. Her presence and concern for Bung Karno's grave indicated that she had a big heart in appreciating the services of the father of the nation as well as the proclaimer. We convey our gratitude to the Minister of Social Affairs," said Santoso.
