Social Affairs Minister Proposes Additional Budget in 2022 for Orphans

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini has submitted a proposed additional budget requirement for the 2022 Fiscal Year amounting to IDR25,809,385,200,000. The proposal will be allocated for Social Assistance (Bansos) for Basic Food Cards of IDR14,160,000,000,000,000 and for the ATENSI Program for Orphans in the amount of IDR11,649,385,200,000.

The Minister of Social Affairs explained that the fund of IDR11,649,385,200,000 will be targeted for 4,386,983 children, including 3,453,128 school-age orphans and 933,855 orphans who have not yet attended school.

The Social Assistance Index is IDR200,000 per month per school-age orphan, and IDR300,000 per month per orphan who is not yet in school. This social assistance proposal will be given for a duration of 12 months.

"So this (data) has been combined with children who are victims of COVID-19 (children whose parents died from Covid-19) and other orphans. They are found in Bali centers, institutions and orphanages, which are included in this data," said Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma, on Monday (09/20/2021).

The statement was made by the Minister of Social Affairs in the presence of the Chairman of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Yandri Susanto. The presentation was delivered during the Commission VIII Work Meeting with the Minister of Religion, Minister of Social Affairs, and the Minister of PPPA and the Head of BNPB. Also presented was the Work Plan and Budget of State Ministries/Institutions (RKA-KL).

Hearing that, Yandri assessed that Social Affairs Minister Risma's proposal must be supported and approved. Yandri evem considered the proposal to be historical if it is realized, for 76 years Indonesia was independent and paid attention to orphans.

Meanwhile, regarding the proposal for the Social Assistance for Basic Foods, Social Affairs Minister Risma also proposed an additional budget of IDR14,160,000,000 with a target of 5.9 million Beneficiary Families (KPM). The aid index is IDR200,000 per month per KPM with a duration of 12 months.

Previously, Minister of Social Affairs Risma also explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs budget in 2021 and 2022 experienced a decrease of 26.79 percent. Previously, the budget in 2021 was IDR106,886,070,918,000 and the Draft State Budget based on the results of discussions with the Budget Agency was IDR78,256,327,121,000 with a focus on various social protection programs.

"Please support the two basic food cards and orphans that we will re-propose. Informally it has been approved, but we have to re-propose," said Social Affairs Minister Risma.
