JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini has taken acceleration measures in line with Indonesian President Joko Widodo's directive so that social assistance can be distributed to the public as soon as possible. An important stage that received the attention of Social Affairs Minister Risma is the aspect of distributing aid by Himbara (Association of State-Owned Banks) member banks.

Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma, said the Ministry of Social Affairs continues to increase efforts so that beneficiaries receive assistance quickly and on target. The public really needs help during the current activity restrictions.

For non-cash social assistance, the Ministry of Social Affairs ensures that it has coordinated intensively with the regional governments, as the data on recipients of assistance is under the authority of regional governments. The local government's response in updating data is very helpful in improving data quality.

The Minister of Social Affairs admitted that for recipients of assistance in the new social assistance scheme related to the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM), a breakthrough was indeed needed. These include the addition of assistance to 5.9 million families who received non-cash assistance from regional proposals which were channeled through Himbara with non-cash mechanisms, such as the Keluarga Harapan Program (PKH) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT)/Staple Goods Cards using the Prosperous Family Card (Kartu Keluarga Sejahtera).

"Well, it takes about one month for the banks to print the card. Long enough. I've talked to Himbara, BI (Bank Indonesia), and OJK (Financial Services Authority), how about using an electronic card only (through the digital system), So there is no need to print and use a card that looks like an ATM," said the Minister of Social Affairs in Jakarta, on Thursday (07/22/2021).

The proposal for the use of digital transactions is part of Social Affairs Minister Risma's efforts to take acceleration steps in the distribution phase of social assistance in line with the President's directives. In addition, the Minister of Social Affairs also continues to encourage local governments to improve data verification and validation, especially in meeting the allocation of non-cash beneficiaries to 5.9 million families.

This is in accordance with the provisions of the law on data recipients proposed by the regions. "To accelerate the distribution of aid, we are intensifying coordination with local governments," continued the Minister of Social Affairs.

The Ministry of Social Affairs regularly coordinates the data update process with all relevant parties, both related to existing social assistance programs such as Social Cash (BST), PKH, and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT)/Staple Goods Cards, as well as related to new social assistance, such as assistance to 5.9 million families.
