Social Affairs Minister Visits Areas Hit with Floods and Landslides in Padang Pariaman

PADANG PARIAMAN, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini has visited the communities affected by floods and landslides in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra Province. The Minister of Social Affairs met with the the survivors and ensured that their basic needs are met from the state's logistical assistance.
Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma, arrived at Nagari Pase Laweh, Lubuak Aluang Sub-District, after conducting a work visit in Gorontalo. "Indeed, when I heard there were victims due to the disaster, I wanted to come here. I was in Gorontalo yesterday afternoon, and I went straight here in the morning," she said on Saturday (10/02/2021).
Together with the House of Representatives Commission VII member John Kenedy Azis, the Minister of Social Affairs provided death compensation assistance for seven people who died, in the amount of IDR105,000,000. The Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed disaster logistics assistance in the form of ready-to-eat food, children's food, rolled tents, mattresses, folding mattresses, blankets, and family kits, among others, worth IDR24,560,000.
Among the victims who died, there was a family member of the victim who survived the disaster, namely Kesayangan Nduru. He is an heir who is currently still in college and plans to graduate in October.

The Minister of Social Affairs pays attention to the future of Kesayangan Nduru. The Minister of Social Affairs ensured that Nduru could continue to build Nduru's future by working at the Ministry of Social Affairs. "We have entrusted the victim to the training center in Padang. Later, Nduru can immediately work this month at the Ministry of Social Affairs," Risma said.
During the visit, the Minister of Social Affairs also said that she would provide assistance in the form of repairing houses for residents affected by the disaster through the uninhabitable housing renovation program (Rutilahu).
Through the Rutilahu Program, disaster-affected communities are expected not only to regain their basic needs in the form of shelter, but also to improve their standard of living.
During the visit, the Minister of Social Affairs also greeted the children and refugees. To the children who were in the tents, the Minister of Social Affairs provided motivation and entertainment. Risma asked the children to remain enthusiastic and continue to learn in the midst of the ordeal of disasters.
In addition, The Ministry of Social Affairs provides Psychosocial Support Services (LDP) for children affected by disasters. With LDP, children can get trauma healing and can do activities that are both educational and entertaining.
"LDP is always given by the Ministry of Social Affairs for children. Yes, they are given trauma healing services to relieve trauma. We also work with psychologists to guide them," said the Minister of Social Affairs. On the same occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs also distributed food packages to children.
To the adults of Nagari Pase Laweh residents, the Minister of Social Affairs greeted and had a small dialogue. The Minister of Social Affairs also provides motivation to keep them motivated. She also asked them to pray that the disaster would end soon and they could return to their activities.
From Lubuak Aluang, the Minister of Social Affairs also visited Nagari Mangopo Pala Gadang Ulakan Tapakis, Ulakan Tapakis District. Here, the Minister of Social Affairs provides family death compensation for heirs worth IDR15,000,000, assistance for victims of broken bones worth IDR5,000,000, and logistical assistance worth IDR112,000,000.
In Ulakan Tapakis, the Ministry of Social Affairs opened a public kitchen at the Nagari Mangopo Pala Gadang office. This public kitchen will later serve the food needs of disaster-affected victims so that their logistical needs are still met.
The Minister of Social Affairs and her entourage then visited the Tomb Complex of Sheikh Burhanuddin, which is still in the Ulakan area. There, the Minister of Social Affairs provided Social Harmony assistance as a form of tomb preservation which was respected by the surrounding communities.
"Because this tomb is respected by the communities, we have an obligation to maintain and preserve it. In the past, when I first served as Mayor of Surabaya, I also repaired the tomb of Sunan Ampel, which is now in good condition,” said the Minister of Social Affairs.
There are 33 locations of floods and landslides in Padang Pariaman on Wednesday (29/9). This disaster was caused by the extreme weather that occurred that day. There were 8 people who died, 4 were injured and 1 was slightly injured.
