JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini continues to encourage the improvement of poverty data to make better the accuracy of social assistance distribution. Today, the Ministry of Social Affairs is activating new features, namely 'suggestion' and 'refutation' in the Cek Bansos application.
According to the Minister of Social Affairs, the activation of the 'suggest' and 'refute' features is a breakthrough from the data problems so far, as there are people who have the right to get assistance but cannot (exclusion error), and there are those who are not entitled but receive assistance (inclusion error).
"With this feature, the public can participate in controlling data updates. Community involvement can also accelerate the renewal process so that it helps the task of local governments, since in accordance with Law No. 13 Year 2011 on Handling the Poor, updating data is the authority of local governments," said Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma, at the 'Online Dissemination of the Cek Bansos Application' event that was held online on Tuesday (08/17/2021).
The Social Affairs Minister hopes that the addition of these features does not mean to negate the authority of local governments. According to the Minister of Social Affairs, these features can be used as a control tool for possible inaccuracies in determining beneficiary receivers. "This is what the local government needs," she continued.

Special Staff of the Minister for Human Resources Development and Ministry Programs, Suhadi Lili, said that in Law no. 13/2011, poor people have the right to propose themselves for assistance. This feature is an implementation of the mandate of the law so that residents who were previously not free to propose themselves for various reasons, can be accommodated.
As a mandate from the law, community participation is a choice that must be made in the distribution of social assistance. In addition, due to the large amount of data that must be managed and the strategic role of the data itself, it is a reference for various support programs for the poor.
"As for if there is a dispute in the data update, there is a quality assurance stage that will be carried out by universities," said Suhadi.
The Head of the Data and Information Center for Social Welfare, Agus Zainal Arifin, said the new feature was created to support the main tasks and functions of the Ministry of Social Affairs. To support data improvement, the Ministry of Social Affairs has a three-phase improvement program.
First, in the form of improving and integrating data which previously consisted of four data islands. He said, currently three data islands have been successfully combined. The Ministry of Social Affairs has also ratified the data periodically every month, namely May, June, and July in completion.
"The second is inclusiveness. With this feature, it allows the public to access assistance. People who have been struggling to get their rights, now have the opportunity," said Agus Zainal.
Then the third aspect is openness or transparency. With the social assistance check application, it is possible to carry out joint supervision so that the distribution of social assistance is more targeted.
Agus expressed appreciation for the role of a number of regions that have updated data and submitted new proposals for aid recipients.
"Many regional proposals have come in and we are very grateful. The Social Welfare Centers are ready to supervise by coming to the regions, if there are obstacles in submitting proposals," he said.
