JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs continues to improve literacy for social welfare beneficiary recipients in 41 Technical Implementation Units (UPT) throughout Indonesia, and officially through the Digital Reading Corner (Pocadi).

The provision of Pocadi is in collaboration with the Indonesian National Library to provide social welfare and increase literacy through the use and development of libraries.

Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini and the Head of the National Library Muhammad Syarif Bando have agreed to cooperate in developing Pocadi on September 23, 2021.

The scope of this collaboration includes coaching, development, evaluation, and coordination of library management for the implementation of the social welfare of the beneficiaries.

The scope also includes exchange of data and information, and provision of experts as well as facilities and infrastructure to support mutually agreed programs/activities,  increase the capacity of human capitals through agreed programs/activities, as well as dissemination and publication of the results of the collaboration.

Pocadi is a library model with a digital book format (e-book) and printed book service which is expected to encourage an increase in literacy culture in the public, one of which is in social rehabilitation centers belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In addition, Pocadi uses the concept of a digital library in building user interactions to interact with each other through the features in the iPusnas application by borrowing, reading, and sharing collections and information.

The advantages of this feature make borrowing and reading digital books as well as discussions between readers can be carried out by beneficiaries and employees of the Ministry of Social Affairs anywhere at any time without space and time limits.

One of the many social welfare centers that have been equipped with Pocadi is the Paramita Center in Mataram.

"Pocadi is very suitable to be in the offices of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs spread throughout Indonesia," said the Head of the Mataram Paramita Center, I Ketut Supena.

I Ketut said that centers, as an image of the Ministry of Social Affairs organization, need to display excellent public services, one of which is assisted by the existence of Pocadi facilities.

"Pocadi helps provide up-to-date learning facilities and information at the centers, as we know that the procurement and use of books/other media physically requires significant costs and maintenance," he said.

In the future, more content will be accessible, ranging from popular books and children's books, which are examples of books that will be frequently accessed by beneficiaries and visitors to Paramita Mataram Center.

"The existence of Pocadi makes learning and information dissemination more effective and efficient, so that the social rehabilitation process for beneficiaries can also run better," concluded I Ketut.
