TULUNGAGUNG, NETRALNEWS.COM - Mohammad Imron Wahyudi, coordinator of Sub-district Social Welfare Personnel (TKSK) at Tulungagung Regency, has given clarification on the news that elderly Binah was reportedly abandoned and had not received government assistance. He said that the news was a hoax.
Imron said there are many things that need to be straightened out about the news that is still circulating today. He said the news that went viral in the last few days was news from December 2020.
"Elderly Binah passed away in 2019. The government has also provided assistance to the deceased in 2017. Therefore, the news is a hoax," said Imron in Tulungangung, on Tuesday (06/15/2021).
Binah was a resident of Kalibatur Village, Kalidawir Sub-district, Tulungagung Regency. She died in 2019, and this was recorded in a death certificate issued by the Kalidawir Sub-district Office with Number 472. 11/21,409/11/2019.

However, on December 11, 2020, the news came back from the site: https://viral.topberitaterkini.com/2020/12/tinggal-seorang-diri-nenek-ini-hanya.html?m=1, with the title: "Living Alone, This Grandmother Only Cooks Water Without Rice to Ease Hunger".
This news has been re-viralized recently for unknown purposes. Among them are those questioning the government's actions when there were citizens living in bamboo booths with plastic mats without pillows. It is said that Binah only cooked water without eating any rice just to stave off hunger.
Imron ensured that the government would not let go of its responsibility as the government had responded to this case since 2017. The Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, through the Tulungagung Regency TKSK, has carried out the distribution of assistance, namely through the Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS), and food assistance with the Prosperous Family Card (KKS) in January 2017 .
Imron admitted that he was directly involved in delivering the aid to Binah in January 2017."So it's not true that the government doesn't pay attention to people who need help, including Binah," said Imron.
In a different case, as a follow-up to the direction of Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, the Minister said that the Ministry of Social Affairs must respond quickly to various problems that occur.
The Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Social Affairs also conducted an initial investigation of elderly Noorlia Effendy, a resident of Griya Permata Gedangan, Kebonsikep Village, Gedangan District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java.
Effendy is a 78-year-old elderly retired from the security unit (security guard). He stopped working in 2010, Effendy found it difficult to finance his daily needs. After receiving information from the local community, the Ministry of Social Affairs directly checked the condition of the elderly.
The Ministry of Social Affairs team coordinated with the East Java Provincial Social Service, the Sidoarjo District Social Service, and the Kebonsikep Village Head, along with the District Social Welfare Coordinator, and Social Rehabilitation Assistant.
Based on the assessment carried out by the team, the Ministry of Social Affairs will arrange further steps before determining the appropriate service.
