Artificial Intelligence Set to Play Important Role in Program to Imitate Humans

DEPOK, NETRALNEWS.COM - Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology will act as a computational program to imitate human perceptions, actions and thought patterns, said Ramesh Rao, Senior Director of Engineering at Qualcomm Technology Licensing.
This was said by Ramesh Rao in a public lecture held by the Master Program in Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Indonesia (FTUI). The lecture was held online with the theme "Electrical Technology Trends in the Next Decade".
In a written statement from UI on Friday (09/17/2021), Ramesh Rao said that the technology system in the next decade consists of four main characteristics, which are intelligence (Intelligent), connectedness (Connected), wireless (Mobile) and integrated (Highly integrated).
These four characteristics will form a vision of the order of human life, namely the realization of connectedness with one another intelligently (everything is intelligently connected).

The implications are not only for humans who communicate with each other, but also physical devices and non-physical systems in everyday human life.
Actually, this phenomenon has begun to be felt today, where humans are connected socially and emotionally through social media platforms.
Meanwhile, humans are also connected to digital physical devices, such as mobile gadgets and Internet of Things devices.
Besides humans, machines are also interconnected, as is the case in the application of various sensor devices in factories.
Some examples of applications in the next decade that will color our lives include smart medical teleconsultation, which is an online health consultation where a patient does not need to be physically present to see a doctor.
Future technology provides data to support diagnosis quickly and accurately.
In the industrial sector, future technology systems will facilitate smart factory systems that operate robots as manufacturing machines on an integrated wireless network within the factory (private network).
In the transportation sector, technology supports the implementation of smart automotive where vehicles can operate automatically without a driver in a safe and comfortable manner.
To form these various applications, two key technologies are needed, namely 5G and Artificial Intelligence or AI.
5G technology will act as a wireless communication infrastructure that offers 10 times faster data access speeds.
It supports up to 100 times more data traffic capacity than the cellular technology we enjoy today.
In fact, 5G will have a positive economic impact on the world worth US$13.2 trillion in 2035.
In this capacity, a machine will be able to develop a computational flow that is closer to human logic in making a decision.
An AI system in smart medical teleconsultation, for example, can provide a supporting diagnosis of a disease based on data input from a patient's physical condition.
Ramesh Rao provided motivation for general lecture participants, especially Master's Degree students in Electrical Engineering UI to build a skill set that is relevant to the mastery of 5G and AI technology.
He said that AI technology requires mastery of relevant programming languages, such as Python, and understanding of the Neural Network methodology.
On the other hand, 5G technology requires competence related to the basic elements of radio frequency (RF) wireless science, including the concept of antenna, security, and multimedia supporting software. He remembers that a student must always have an enthusiasm for learning and adapt to rapid technological changes, as reported by Antara.
