Indonesian Gov't Set to Build 421 BTS Towers in East Nusa Tenggara

KUPANG, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Indonesian government is set to construct 421 Base Transceiver Stations or BTS in villages spread across 16 districts in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province. The government targets expanding 4G services in the region.
Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate said to ANTARA in Labuan Bajo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Thursday (06/17/2021), that the government will also develop internet access via satellite for special public services, such as public services and community health centers, in order to assist health and education services.
"We will build more than 400 BTS in all villages and sub-districts in NTT where 4G services have not yet been available, and at the same time develop internet access via satellite for special public services such as public services to community health centers in order to assist in tele-health and tele-education," said Johnny G Plate.
The Minister of Communication and Information said these programs were prepared in one big package on the infrastructure side.
He explained that the areas targeted for the BTS construction were Alor Regency (33 BTS), Ende (59 BTS), Kupang (24 BTS), Lembata (31 BTS), Manggarai (31 BTS), West Manggarai (24 BTS), and East Manggarai (66 BTS).
In addition, the districts of Nagekeo and Southwest Sumba each will have 1 BTS, Rote Ndao with 15 BTS, Sabu Raijua with 3 BTS, West Sumba with 4 BTS, Central Sumba with 21 BTS, East Sumba with 89 BTS, South Central Timor with 15 BTS, and North Central Timor with 4 BTS, as reported by Antara.
