JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Rupiah exchange rate at the inter-bank level in Jakarta has strengthened on Friday on the back of the market players' optimism for improvements in the global economy.
The Indonesian currency was closed rising 50 points or 0.35 percent to IDR14,203 per US dollar, as compared to the position of IDR14,253 per US dollar at the previous trade closing.
"We see from a global perspective that concerns over the spreading of the COVID-19 Delta variant are starting to subside, and in the US, the daily spread of COVID-19 has begun to decline. Thus, risk-on sentiment has returned to color the global market today," said Bank Mandiri money market analyst Rully Arya in Jakarta, on Friday (09/10/2021).
Rully said that from within the country, the level of confidence in the rupiah exchange rate is still relatively high.
"This is in line with various accommodative policies that continue to be carried out by Bank Indonesia, the Indonesian Government, and the OJK (Financial Services Authority)," said Rully.
