JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Efforts to eradicate poverty in Indonesia cannot be carried out by the government alone. Building synergy and collaboration are needed, including with institutions of education and the regional governments.

"We are collaborating with 5,140 students from various universities who will be deployed to the communities to find out social problems closely and try to solve the problem of poverty in 514 regencies/cities throughout Indonesia," said Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.

The statement was delivered in a Public Lecture on the Young Fighters of the Ministry of Social Affairs in 2021 at the Aneka Bhakti Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/13/2021).

The impact of the Young Fighters program will be felt directly by the communities when students work on projects to tackle poverty and social problems that are supported by the Ministry of Social Affairs budget.

"We have prepared IDR178 billion from the Social Affairs Ministry's budget for 5,140 students that will be used for data improvement to create poverty alleviation program projects that were previously refocused and evaluated," said Tri Rismaharini, also known as Risma.

The cost support for one group project is IDR10 million from the Ministry of Social Affairs, but if a larger budget is needed, it will be synergized with Kitabisa.com to raise funds from the public and other related parties. "If the budget is more than 10 million for projects, problems found in the communities will be collaborated with Kitabisa to raise funds from the public," she said.

There are four program options of the Young Fighters, namely in the fields of social assistance, empowerment, the environment, and the most important environmental facilities for students to choose a program with a weight of 20 credits for one semester.

"They don't just go directly to the communities, but they can choose one of the four programs supported by the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Education and Culture through the Merdeka Campus program, and get a score at the end of the program," Risma said.

Meanwhile, for the technical field, they will be distributed in small groups of five people and 10 people for each district/city to observe various social problems in the communities through real programs.

At the same place, Chairman of Commission VIII at the House of Representatives, Yandri Susanto, appreciated the Young Fighters directed by the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, as an innovative and extraordinarily creative program that had never existed before.

"As long as Indonesia is independent, this is the first time there is a very good Young Fighters program where students are sent to villages during the pandemic to overcome social problems, and if deemed appropriate, can be a solution. We will be well guarded and if it is considered good next year, as a working partner of the Ministry of Social Affairs, we are ready to provide budget," Yandri said.
