KARO, NETRALNEWS.COM - Member of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Rudi Hartono Bangun has appreciated the various programs of the Ministry of Social Affairs. The programs include social counseling and Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI).
Commission VIII continues to support the policies of Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, especially in increasing the independence of the beneficiary groups.
In the digital era, people receive a lot of information, but not all of it can be justified. "Social counselors can provide education to the public to use information wisely so they don't get caught up in hoaxes," said Rudi recently.
He emphasized that the rapid flow of digital-based information has also become a medium for the development of radical ideas that endanger the foundations of the life of the nation and state. Rudi believes that social counselors can play an active role in protecting the public from misleading information.

"I believe the Ministry of Social Affairs, through social counselors, can educate the public to obtain appropriate and useful information so that they not only understand but can also be actively involved in supporting government programs, including stunting management, which is our collective focus," he said.
Rudi was present at the Working Visit of Commission VIII in the context of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme Prevention of Risks and Impacts of Stunting for Children for Family Welfare at Karo, North Sumatra.
Rudi also appreciated the ATENSI program, in particular, which provided economic strengthening for persons with disabilities. Rudi praised Minister of Social Affairs Risma's measures in encouraging innovation in strengthening the independence of persons with disabilities.
For example, by giving a tricycle motorbike to a person with a disability in place of a bicycle. "That way, they can move more agile and reach a wider range of buyers," he said.
"ATENSI assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs has increased the productivity of beneficiaries," he said. Commission VIII is ready and will continue to support the program for strengthening and independence of persons with disabilities from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Social Services Office of North Sumatra Province Ardo Mulia Sitompul expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Commission VIII. The various programs from the Ministry of Social Affairs have a positive and real impact on the people of North Sumatra.
